A city which forgot how to smile by StamatisGR A city which forgot how to smile by StamatisGR
Part of my latest "Streets of Athens" post: A city which forgot how to smile with 17 new images.

"Strolling in Athens during Christmas holidays 2012. In places where once was safe to stroll, in places where itís not wise anymore to stroll. Athens, a city full of cops, a city greatly missed by its citizens."

Your work is very striking. very moving. I've been reading a lot about what's happening to Greek people. Very sad

Thank you very much Jen. What is today happening to greek people may as well happen to any other people tomorrow. World is changing.

indeed it is happening here just not (yet) on such a terrible scale. But it's the same thing. Neoliberalism and crisis. People are already forgetting about Greece now that it's not in the news, but they shouldn't.

Neoliberalism indeed
and more countries will soon find out what this means.

This is the first time I see this kind of photo from you, with so much black and only a couple of highlighted spots. I love this one, the woman alone and the door with many people framed inside it. Intriguing photo

This photograph is beautiful, Samatis! :dalove: You captured the concerned mistrust on her facial expression in a beautiful way  ... The lighting on this picture is intriguing to me, I keep looking at it and love the details I'm able to see, like the black furr on her jacket, you managed to make it stand out even when it's on top of a black background! :wow: ... That's a really good angle to me!
I visited the link on your description and I must tell you that the photograph that was the most compelling to me, was the one tittled "Robocops patrolling" ... such a lovely neighborhood, and the couple walking on the street like that ... They seem so "adapted" to the view of those cops patrolling the streets! ... It made me kinda sad when I saw it :iconsadhugplz:

Thank you very much for visiting my blog, Eve! :)
It is sad indeed to consider riot cops patrolling a natural part of everyday life.
