we are watching the terrifying news coming from your country and I feel for your people...it makes me so angry, frustrated and sad watching what the people have to suffer by the hands of governments. I hope you and your family are holding up. Stay strong...

we people in other countries of Europe who would be free of the European Union - what is our duty to Greece?

Hoping that our leaders will find a solution, listening to the people!

I find you quite romantic JD.
I think it's the Banks and the Markets which decide the fate of the people.

European bureaucracy and international lobbies are busy crushing our countries with the help of our own governments.
We French voted against a proposed European constitution when it appeared its sole purpose was to pave the way for total deregulation of all our particular national systems (which did need streamlining so that we could function together)  and replace them with international economic and financial regulations, exclusively .
Greece is being forced to pay back astronomical interests on loans which only benefited private banks.
Spain, Italy and France may be the next countries on the agenda;
So, Greek women and men, fight on, your struggle is ours, too.

isn't greece that crappy country with lots of debt? The only redeeming quality is how powerful the Nat. Sco. party is.

There are a surprising number of _economists_
here on DA, eh?? My impression is that
Greeks were happier _before_ so much money flowed,
and _before_ and after  the Junta...that was a bit of a golden age
(for Hellenism and Greek Art ...and...
of course _after_ the Ottomans!...)

I'm optimistic that Greece is not so outright _mean_
as many countries in Europe, and frankly not as
antisemitic as many european countries...
although I can see why so much immigration
is as hard for Greeks, as it is for Germans,
French, and Brits to accommodate...

Greece can be either free or part of the Europan Union. You'll have to choose one.

I think Europe should join Greece, not the other way. And the big question that Greeks should ask is who exactly is your creditors. Debt is a modern day slavery of either the common people or the whole nations. I hope you'll choose the Icelandic way.

It's not so much giving what the people want,  the world tends to revolve around money.

Greece simply can't pay it's creditors, if it defaults and ditches the euro for there own currency they would be much better off in the long run but  it would take a few decades for the economy to recover.

I'm a big supporter of giving the people what they want. Seems to be a no-brainer for Greece. Put it to a public vote
Nice shot, Stam :ahoy:
